At the 54th Annual International Aviation Snow Symposium on October 5th 2020 in Buffalo, NY; awards will be presented to the “Snow Crews” of the airports in the Snow Belt for their dedicated efforts in maintaining their airports in safe and operational status during the 2019 – 2020 winter season. This is the 44th consecutive year that such awards are presented. All categories of airports – Commercial, General Aviation and Military - compete for these awards. Applications are submitted by the airport operators on behalf of the local work force in recognition of their efforts in keeping the airports operationally safe at all times. Recommendations for selection may come from the users of airports, airlines, pilots, general aviation, the military and the entire aviation community. In addition, the members of the Awards Selection Committee provide feedback from their own organizations as to the performance of competing airports. The 2019 – 2020 awards were presented to the following airports: Large Commercial (Over 200,000 operations per year ) Winner: Denver International Airport – Denver, Colorado Honorable Mention: Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport – Anchorage, Alaska Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport – Detroit, Michigan Medium Commercial (100,000 to 200,000 operations per year ) Winner: Buffalo Niagara International Airport – Buffalo, New York Honorable Mention: Bradley International Airport – Windsor Locks, Connecticut Small Commercial (Less than 100,000 operations per year ) Winner: Aspen Pitkin County Airport – Aspen, Colorado Honorable Mention: Greater Rochester International Airport – Rochester, New York Duluth International Airport – Duluth, Minnesota Worcester Regional Airport – Worcester, Massachusetts Large General Aviation ( Over 50,000 operations per year ) Winner: Centennial Airport – Englewood, Colorado Honorable Mention: Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport – Broomfield, Colorado Teterboro Airport – Teterboro, New Jersey Willow Run Airport – Ypsilanti, Michigan Small General Aviation ( Less than 50,000 operations per year ) Winner: Niagara Fall’s International Airport – Niagara Falls, New York Honorable Mention: Gary/Chicago International Airport – Gary, Indiana Military Airport Winner: 35th Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) Misawa Air Base, Japan (PACAF) Honorable Mention: 319th Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota (ACC) For additional information and past winners of this prestigious award, visit: http://www.necaaae.org
